How it works. We first fly the right-of-way at a mid or high altitude in a corridor pattern to get the terrain elevation profile including any potential hazards such as trees or other obstacles. Using this accurate profile and GIS data, we determine the optimum route and plan the inspection mission. This mission is then flown with close supervision and minor modifications are made to the route / elevations in order to achieve the best results. This mission is then saved for later use and can be used for subsequent missions including those with other platforms (such as the larger infrared-carrying platforms).
